1. The Sevilla Cathedral
Our first stop of our weekend adventure was a cathedral. Although our tour was completely in Spanish, I was able to comprehend much more than I was on tours my first week in Spain.
This is the view from the tower inside the cathedral we climbed (all 37 ramps to the top!)
2. The Cathedral in Cordoba
This cathedral was unique because the mixture of architecture styles. Spain has a history of different groups of religious people living in different areas. This church was originally a mosque built by Muslims. Later it was taken over by the Christians. Rather than destroying the mosque, the Christian did a few things did different things with different parts: some built on top of the original, some was destroyed as other parts were kept, and other parts enhanced some features. This resulted in very different styles and colors in one single cathedral.
3. María Luisa Park
This was definitely my favorite part of our trip. We visited a beautiful park that had a beautiful palace-like building and many areas of greenery to explore.
My best friends and I decided to cool off and wade in the fountain. It was fun and refreshing.
4. No free tapas :(
If there was to be one negative about this trip, it would be that Sevilla and Cordoba do not serve free tapas. In Granada, it's typical to order a drink and get a small appetizer like food (a tapa) free with your drink. It's my favorite thing to do on a weeknight with my friends.
Great post, Lia. The pics are wonderful.
